The Turning Wheel

The Turning Wheel was first developed by a dear friend of mine, Gabrielle Sawdo, who created the world of Terrah---and soon other worlds that connected to it. Eventually they brought those worlds to the D&D table, and from there came the stories of the Turning Wheel that now influence nearly all of the works I create.

The World of Terrah - As told by Cindico Lovelock

Terrah is a simple place. A realm where invention is only a mere toddler, and magic can be caustic and dangerous for any regular person. Terrah is vast, beautiful, and vicious. And yet, despite the many dangers, mortals thrive and the gods walk the land amongst them. Kings and queens preside over the 12 kingdoms, though there are still those territories yet unclaimed.

It is the world in which gods fell in love and in pain. It is the place in which their suffering became too great for them not to share it with others. It’s this world in which stories will begin and never quite end. It is within Terrah, that stories continue.

Time

Time in Terrah resembles something of an atom. Timelines are not linear but instead a cycle. One cycle is an eternity. Sometimes the start of a new eternity is called “a turn of the wheel”. But an eternity doesn’t end; it can only begin over and over again. A wheel can never stop turning once it’s begun unless it is destroyed.
If you picture it like an atom it allows each timeline, each eternity, each wheel, to move and fluctuate. It can cross paths with other timelines and shrink or grow freely of its own accord. The more timelines, the more cycles are added to the “atom”.
